Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs snapped their five-game losing streak in a big way on Wednesday night as they used dominant second and third periods to cruise to a 7-2 victory over the Portland Winterhawks. Forward Riley Woods led the way with a career-high five-point effort, scoring one goal and adding four assists.

Things stayed deadlocked through the first period as the sides traded goals with Woods and Portland's Josh Paterson scoring to send things into the intermission tied 1-1.

It was all Chiefs the rest of the way as they added on a pair of goals from Luc Smith and one by Jaret Anderson-Dolan to extend the lead to 4-1 through two periods of play.

Spokane added on three more goals in the final period a Jake McGrew, Ethan McIndoe, and Jack Finley got in on the action. Rookie forward Connor Gabruch picked up his first career point with an assist on McIndoe's tally at the 7:23 mark.

The Chiefs led shots on goal throughout, outshooting the visiting Winterhawks 47-21.

Bailey Brkin started and finished 19-of-21 between the pipes for the Chiefs while Joel Hofer allowed six goals, saving just 31 of 37 Spokane shots before being relieved by Shane Farkas. Farkas went 9-for-10 in 12:37. The Chiefs converted 3-of-6 power play chances and went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
