Johnstown Chiefs News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, and the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and Syracuse Crunch, announced today All-Star goaltender Kris Mayotte has been loaned to the Crunch.

The 25-year-old Pittsburgh native is 14-5-2 in his third professional season, second in the ECHL. Mayotte's 14 wins are the most among American Conference goaltenders, and second in the league. He was selected as the starting goaltender for the conference in this year's All-Star Game to be played January 21 in Reading. He was named ECHL Goalie of the Week for October 27, 2008 to November 2, 2008 after going 2-0-0 with a 1.92 goals against average and a .934 save percentage.

Signed as a free agent over the summer, Mayotte was 18-9-4 with one shutout, a 2.97 goals against average, and a .901 save percentage for the Fresno Falcons. He dressed in one game for Syracuse this season on October 18, 2008 as the backup to Sebastian Dahm, but did not play. The Crunch signed Mayotte to a professional tryout contract after Dan LaCosta was added to the Blue Jackets' roster on emergency recall.

In a separate transaction, defenseman David Schulz was loaned to Lake Erie. The 23-year-old from Winkler, Manitoba has one goal and five assists in 32 games with Johnstown. He has played one career AHL game with the Manitoba Moose last season and picked up two penalty minutes in that game.
