Wheeling Nailers News Release
The Wheeling Nailers have announced the additions of a couple of players to their roster. Kelly Sullivan was acquired in a trade with the Idaho Steelheads for future considerations and free agent Ben Geelan was also acquired. Both are expected to be in uniform this weekend when the Nailers return to action with a 3 game stretch in 3 days.
Sullivan is a 6-0 defenseman from Beverly Hills, Michigan who is in his rookie season of professional hockey. With the Idaho Steelheads this year he had 0 goals and 2 assists in 13 games. He played collegiately at UMass-Lowell through 07-08 amassing 2 goals and 8 assists in 88 career games there. Sullivan's jersey number with the Nailers will be 16.
Ben Geelan is also in his rookie season of professional hockey and has spent time with both the Dayton Bombers and the Elmira Jackals. The resident of Buffalo, Minnesota had 2 goals and 3 assists in 19 games with Dayton and also recorded 1 assist in 6 games with Elmira. He should be rather familiar with his new Nailers teammates having played against the Wheeling Nailers in five games while with Dayton including scoring goals in back to back games against the Nailers on December 5 and 6. The Bowling Green State University product scored 11 goals and 8 assists in his 4 year collegiate career over 103 games. He also spent time with the Gwinnett Gladiators but was on the injured-reserve and did not see action. Geelan will be wearing #9 for the Nailers.
The North Division leading Wheeling Nailers are back in action this Friday night with a 7:35 contest against the Dayton Bombers. Wheeling leads the conference with a 22-6-5 mark. The Friday game features a Nailers poster giveaway for the first 2500 fans in attendance and is also a Friday Family Four-Pack Night with special packages available for $44 including 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas and a popcorn.
