Chiefs Hold On to Edge Blazers

David Rutherford's late second-period goal stood up as the game-winner as the Spokane Chiefs rallied then held on for a 4-3 win over the Blazers on Wednesday night at ISC.

Mark Hall opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal 4-and-a-half minutes in with Chris Bruton tying the game with a powerplay goal two minutes later. Brady Calla restored the Blazer lead with a powerplay goal of his own. The Blazers led 2-1 after one.

In the second, the Chiefs got three goals - from Justin Falk, Levko Koper, and Rutherford - in the final 8-and-half minutes for a 4-2 led after two. The Blazers made it 4-3 on Kenton Dulle's last-minute goal but could get no closer.

Final shots were 26-23 Chiefs with Dustin Tokarski getting the win and James Priestner taking the loss.

The Blazers were 1-for-7 on the PP while the Chiefs were 2-for-6.
