Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane Chiefs forward Jack Finley has been invited to Canada's national under-17 development camp, as announced by Hockey Canada on Friday. The camp will take place July 21-27 in Calgary, Alberta.
Finley, a 6-foot-4, 193-pound forward from Kelowna, B.C. is one of 111 players and 63 forwards invited by Hockey Canada to participate in the week-long camp, which will help scouts evaluate players in advance of the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Canada will trim their roster to 66 players to form three teams prior to that tournament, which will take place in New Brunswick from Nov. 3-10.
"The national under-17 development camp provides a unique opportunity for players to learn about what it takes to be part of Team Canada alongside the best young talent in the country," said Shawn Bullock, Hockey Canada's senior manager of hockey operations and men's national teams in a Hockey Canada news release. "The players are here with the ultimate goal of wearing the Team Canada jersey in international competition, and we are supporting them in that goal by providing the on- and off-ice experiences they need to develop and grow as high-performance athletes."
Finley was the Chiefs' first round (sixth overall) pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft and appeared in seven games as an underage player during the 2017-18 regular season, recording one assist and eight penalty minutes. He posted 33 points (11G-22A) in 33 games with the Okanagan Rockets of the BCMML.
