The Chief scored three runs in the fifth and twice more in the eighth to defeat the PawSox 5-4 on Sunday at McCoy. All Star Chase Lambin hit a home run, a solo shot that proved to be the game winning hit.
Jason Varitek, on a Major League rehab assignment, had a base hit and a sacrifice fly that scored a run for Pawtucket. The Red Sox captain also threw out a would-be base stealer in the first inning, gunning down Michael Martinez. Varitek is scheduled to DH for the PawSox on Monday.
The Sox close the curtain on the 2010 season Monday with a Labor Day matinee at 1:05 p.m. Ramon Ramirez (4-5, 5.03) faces Erik Arnesen (6-7, 3.94).
