SYRACUSE (NY) - The Syracuse Chiefs defeated the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees 7-5 in Spring Training action Tuesday at the Yankees complex in Tampa, Florida.
Ty Taubenheim started for Syracuse and allowed one run on two hits in two innings of work. Joe Matumoto pitched two scoreless innings in relief and Ryan Houston picked up the save pitching a scoreless ninth during which he struck out two Yankees.
Justin Singleton had two hits for Syracuse and John-Ford Griffin doubled and drove home two runs.
The Chiefs (2-3-1) host the Durham Bulls on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Blue Jays complex in Dunedin, Florida.
