Syracuse Mets News Release
Syracuse, N.Y. - A six run fifth inning led the Chiefs to victory on Monday night at Alliance Bank Stadium. Two Buffalo errors and a Chase Lambin three run home run led to the Syracuse outburst. The Chiefs scored once in the first, and twice in the third to round out their scoring.
Luis Atilano made his first start of the season and threw five innings of two hit baseball allowing just one run and striking out six. One of the two hits he surrendered was a solo home run to Bisons first baseman Ike Davis to lead off the second inning. Atilano struck out at least one batter in every inning but the fourth and only faced three batters over the minimum.
The bullpen for the Chiefs threw four scoreless innings in a combined effort from Doug Slaten, Jack Spradlin and Zech Zinicola.
For Buffalo, starter Bobby Livingston was charged with the loss throwing 4 1/3 innings and giving up eight runs, although only three of them were earned. Livingston gave up five hits, walked four and struck out four.
The Chiefs wrap up a six game homestand Tuesday night in game two of this series against Buffalo. The scheduled starters are J.D. Martin (1-0, 2.70) for Syracuse and Tobi Stoner (0-0, 0.00) for Buffalo. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
