Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs have acquired a fourth-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for forward Kooper Gizowski (2005).
"After evaluating our roster for this coming season and in particular with our forward group, we felt that this trade would provide Kooper a better opportunity in Lethbridge," Chiefs General Manager Matt Bardsley said. "We thank him for his time in Spokane and wish him all the best going forward."
Gizowski played 112 games for Spokane, tallying 34 total points on 15 goals and 19 assists. In 2021, the winger helped Team Canada Black secure a gold medal championship at the Capital City Challenge alongside Chiefs defenseman Saige Weinstein.
The Edmonton native was originally the Chiefs' 2nd-round pick (40th overall) in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft.
With the acquisition of the fourth-round pick, Spokane now holds 19 selections in the first four rounds over the next three drafts.
"Earlier this summer, we acquired Conner Roulette by using two draft picks and feel that we are in a position with those draft picks that it would enable us to add another impact player via trade this season, next season and the year after," Bardsley said.
