CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky have signed guard Stella Johnson, the team announced today.

"We are happy to announce we have signed Stella," said Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade. "She is someone who we've followed closely. We feel that she is a young player with a lot of potential. We really liked that she is a physical guard, who can give us some guard depth at the point guard and off-guard positions."

Initially selected by the Phoenix Mercury with the 29th overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, Johnson is one of the most distinguished players in Rider University women's basketball history. The Denville, New Jersey native was named as the MAAC Player of the Year twice throughout her tenure with the Broncs and became the program's first-ever All-American.

During her senior season, Johnson averaged an NCAA Division I-leading 24.8 points per game and at the time was the only active player to record 2,000 points, 700 rebounds, 400 assists and 300 steals in her career.

Johnson will bring a strong offensive skillset to a backcourt that already boasts 2019 All-Star Diamond DeShields, two-time All-Star Courtney Vandersloot and three-time All-Star Allie Quigley.
