
Chicago Sky Re-Sign Veteran KB Sharp

CHICAGO, January 12, 2009 -Chicago Sky Head Coach and General Manager Steven Key announced today that the team has re-signed guard KB Sharp through the 2010 season. Per team policy, terms of the contracts have not been released.
Sharp was acquired by the Sky through an off-season trade with the Indiana Fever during the 2008 offseason. She played in all 34 games of the 2008 season including her first career start on July 6th against the Shock in Detroit and averaged 3.1 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 rebounds per game. Sharp had a season high 12 points on July 10th against the Connecticut Sun and one week later played a career high 33 minutes on July 22nd against her former team, the Indiana Fever.
"It's great to have KB back with the Sky for the next coming seasons. In having KB on the team we retain her WNBA veteran experience," said Steven Key. "She has an undeniable positive attitude both on and off the court combined with her hard work ethic, she is another building block to our championship team we are aiming to attain."
KB was drafted by the New York Liberty in the second round (26th overall) of the 2003 WNBA Draft. Sharp played in 30 games while she averaged 3.1 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game in her rookie season; including a career high 14 points against Indiana just four appearances into her rookie year.
Sharp, a 5-year veteran of the WNBA had a stand out college career at Cincinnati where she earned Cincinnati's Most Outstanding Player award three years straight while leading the team in assists and ranking third in scoring and rebounding in the 2002-2003 season. She became Cincinnati's all time leader in assists (623), games played (126) and minutes played (4,339), while earning First Team All-Conference USA honors. She became one of fewer than 15 women in Division 1 history to total over 1,000 career points.
