Chicago Stars FC News Release
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - Two of the top attacking teams in Women's Professional Soccer will battle it out Saturday night when the Chicago Red Stars (2-1-2, 8 pts.) host FC Gold Pride (2-3-1, 7 pts.) in a 7:30 pm match at Toyota Park.
The Red Stars enter the game looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season. Chicago captain and U.S. Olympic gold medalist Lindsay Tarpley is searching for her third goal of the year after scoring in each of the Red Stars' first two matches.
FC Gold Pride, located in the Bay Area of California, features Wisconsin native and former Chicago Eclipse player Leslie Osborne and two-time U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year Tiffeny Milbrett. Saturday's meeting is the first of three between the clubs this season and the first in Red Stars franchise history.
"This is the first time I've watched tape of another team in the league and thought, âthey look just like us,'" said Red Stars coach Emma Hayes. "They have talent on the attack and a very strong midfield. They're a dangerous club."
Saturday's game will be webcast in Spanish on the Red Stars' website, www.chicagoredstars.com. Full game notes for the match are attached to this e-mail and also available for download on the website.
Special Family Four Packs are available for the game, with prices starting at $64 for four game tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks. In addition, the Red Stars will be running a "shirt off our back" promotion in which one lucky fan will win the game jersey of the Chicago Red Stars' player of the game. Tickets can be purchased through the Red Stars office at (866) WPS-2009 or log on to www.chicagoredstars.com for more information.
