Chicago Red Stars 2024 Preseason Roster Update
February 26, 2024 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Chicago Stars FC News Release
CHICAGO - As the Chicago Red Stars continue preseason training ahead of the 2024 National Women's Soccer League season, the club has reduced the number of players to 31 to adhere to the league's 32-player roster limit.
Part of the roster reduction includes the release of defender, Amanda Fick (formerly Kowalski), and midfielder, Addie McCain. Fick joined the club in 2022 initially as a non-rostered invitee before agreeing to a full contract with the club later that season. Fick appeared in 23 matches, making 16 starts, and scored four goals for the club across all competitions. McCain joined the Red Stars in 2023 after the club acquired her playing rights through the waiver wire. McCain played in two matches for the club last season, making her first start against her former club, the Kansas City Current, June 14.
"I want to thank Amanda and Addie for their contributions to the club over the last couple of seasons," said Richard Feuz, Red Stars general manager. "Bringing the roster down to 32 was a difficult task for the coaches, Babett and myself. We want to thank everyone who joined us for the preseason and wish them the very best in their careers going forward."
Following their visa approvals, defenders, Natalia Kuikka and Maximiliane Rall, have now reported to camp. The club also signed goalkeeper Sydney Schneider to a one-year contract with a one-year option, and recalled goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood from her loan to Stade de Reims Féminines. Rall, Schneider and Wood are all currently with the club and participating in training, while Kuikka returns from international duty with Finland's national team.
