Chicago Fire FC News Release
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will host Fan Appreciation Night for their 2019 regular season home finale against Toronto FC at SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 29. Scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. CT, the match - presented by AT&T - will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and transmitted locally in Spanish on Univision Radio 93.5 Latino Mix FM. The ESPN+ pregame show, presented by CIBC, will begin at 3:45 p.m. CT.
The Men in Red (9-12-11, 38 points) enter Sunday's match against Toronto FC with two important games remaining in the 2019 regular season. Entering the contest, Chicago sits just three points below the playoff line after earning a point in a 0-0 draw against FC Cincinnati at Nippert Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 21. The draw against Cincinnati extended the Fire's unbeaten run to three games, as the team notched its second consecutive clean sheet. Additionally, the Fire enter Sunday's match against Toronto unbeaten in their last five home games, dating back to July 17. During that stretch, Chicago has produced three wins and two draws, gaining 11 points.
Sunday's matchup against Toronto FC will mark the second and final meeting between the two teams this season. Chicago and Toronto previously battled to a 2-2 draw at BMO Field on April 6. Midfielder CJ Sapong and forward Nemanja Nikoli? each recorded a goal in the 2-2 draw.
Toronto FC (12-10-10, 46 points) come into Sunday's contest sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Canadian club picked up a point on Saturday, Sept. 21 after drawing LAFC 1-1 at Banc of California Stadium. With the point, Toronto clinched a berth in the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs. Prior to facing the Fire, Toronto will host the Montreal Impact in the second leg of the Canadian Championship at BMO Field on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
