
Chicago Fire Signs Argentine Defender Nicolás Del Grecco

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Thursday that it has signed Nicolás Del Grecco. The Argentine defender joins the Fire from Honduran side Club Deportivo Olimpia. Del Grecco is under contract through the 2019 season with club options for 2020 and 2021. Del Grecco will be added to the Fire roster upon receipt of his ITC and P1 visa.
Del Grecco appeared in 12 league matches for Olimpia in the Honduran first division since joining the club on Jan. 22, 2018. He additionally appeared in a Concacaf Champions League match against the New York Red Bulls on March 1.
Prior to his move to Honduras, the 24-year-old captained Club Deportivo Libertad de Sunchales in the Argentine third division. He appeared in 36 matches and scored his first professional goal in the fourth minute of a 4-0 win on Nov. 18, 2017.
Born in Morteros, Argentina, Del Grecco made his senior debut with Atlético de Rafaela in 2015, and also featured for Club Atlético Tigre and the Boca Juniors reserve side in his home country.
