Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO (Feb. 27, 2020) - Chicago Fire FC today unveiled the official "Homecoming" identity to commemorate the team's home opener at Soldier Field on Saturday, March 21 as the Club takes on Atlanta United FC (2:30 p.m. CT on Univision). The circular logo features the iconic colonnades of Soldier Field, match date and four six-pointed stars representing the Chicago city flag. Additionally, the Club announced it will distribute 20,000 "Homecoming" captain's pennants to fans as they enter the stadium on matchday.
The "Homecoming" logo will be included in the Fire's recently announced "Stand for Chicago Patch Series" which will see the new mark featured on the first team's kits on March 21 and available for fans to purchase at Soldier Field. The "Homecoming" logo will also be used in a limited-run of merchandise including a t-shirt and a scarf - available for sale at Soldier Field.
"March 21 is going to be a special day in the history of Chicago sports and it is absolutely deserving of a unique emblem that pays tribute to the moment," said John Urban, Chicago Fire FC's chief operating officer. "We're inviting all of Chicago to join us at Soldier Field for a day that will be a spectacular celebration of our Club, our sport, our fans and our city."
In the lead up to the March 21 meeting, the Club will also give away a series of signed pennants on its social media channels - @ChicagoFire and @VamosFire on Twitter and @Chicago Fire on Instagram and Facebook.
The Fire will kick off the 2020 MLS season on the road versus reigning MLS Cup champion Seattle Sounders this Sunday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. CT (ESPN).
