Chicago Fire FC Selects Noah Egan, Billy Hency and Wilmer Cabrera Jr. in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft Presented by Adidas

CHICAGO ‚ ‚ - Chicago Fire FC selected three players in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas earlier today. The Fire selected Noah Egan (64th overall), Billy Hency (67th overall) and Wilmer Cabrera Jr. (76th overall) in the third round.

Egan, 22, a defender from Irvine, Calif., started 22 of the 22 matches he played for Vermont in 2022. Prior to joining the Catamounts, Egan played for Irvine Strikers of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. He scored eight goals as a midfielder for Vermont and helped to lead the team into the top-5 of the United Soccer Coaches 2022 men's soccer season poll for the first time in program history.

Hency, 23, a midfielder from Fenton, Mo, played five seasons for Loyola University - Chicago, starting 73 of his 80 games played for the Ramblers. The 23-year-old redshirt senior scored 27 goals and logged 24 assists throughout his collegiate career. He was voted 2022 Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year, and First-Team All-Conference, receiving All-Conference recognition in four consecutive seasons, with three straight Conference Player of the Year awards. Hency finished the past season as the conference leader in points per game (1.36), and was second in total points (21), tied for second in assists (7), and tied for fourth in goals (7).

Cabrera, Jr., 22, a midfielder from Bogota, Colombia, played at Butler University from 2019-2022. A three-time Big East First-Team selection, Cabrera was voted the Big East Freshman of the Year in his first season. Prior to Butler, Cabrera played for the USL's Rio Grande Valley FC Toros. He spent three seasons at IMG Academy in Florida, trained at the Colorado Rapids Academy from 2011-2016 and also played for the Houston Dynamo Academy.

Chicago traded their natural first-round selection earlier in the year in a deal with Orlando City SC that brought Chris Mueller to the Fire, and their natural second-round selection with Nashville SC for a 2023 international roster slot and $175,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money.
