
Chicago Fire FC Academy's Carlos Melo and Juan "Gio" Villa Called to Mexico Men's Youth National Teams

CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC today announced that Chicago Fire Academy players Carlos Melo and Juan "Gio" Villa were called to represent the Mexico Men's Youth National Teams for their respective age groups.
Melo, a forward for the U-15 Fire Academy team, will represent the U-16 Mexico MYNT at the Copa Alianza tournament, which began Sunday runs through May 5 in Phoenix, Arizona. Melo has been with the Academy since 2021, and has been a key part of the Academy's defense since his arrival to the Club. This will be his first time representing Mexico in tournament play.
Villa, a midfielder for the Fire Academy, has been a part of the Club since 2020 and has been a steady part of the lineup for the Academy this season. Villa, born in 2008, reported to the FMF High Performance Center on Friday, April 30, for the U-15 Mexico MYNT development camp located in Mexico City. Camp will run through May 5. This is the first Mexico MYNT appearance for Villa under current head coach Cristian Flores.
