Chen Rejoins Smokies Roster Friday

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this afternoon that RHP Hung-Wen Chen has been added to the team's active roster. In a corresponding roster move, LHP Eric Jokisch has been placed on the disabled list. Both moves are immediate, with Chen being available for tonight's game in Birmingham, Ala.

Chen, 25, comes back to Tennessee from the Triple-A Iowa Cubs. He began the 2011 campaign with the Smokies, went to play for Piratas de Campeche of the Mexican League before being promoted to the I-Cubs. While with Tennessee then season, Chen held a 1-2 record with a 4.21 ERA in 13 appearances (three starts). He was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Cubs in 2007.

Jokisch, 22, was 1-0 with a 4.11 ERA in three started for Tennessee this season. The Virginia, Ill. native was selected in the 11th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
