TODAY'S GAME: Jackson looks to stop a 3-game losing skid today in game 2 of the 5 game set against the Jacksonville Suns at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The Generals face 24-year-old righty Bryan Evans for the first time tonight. Evans, a 14th round pick by the Marlins out of UC Davis, a native of Mission Viejo, CA. The Generals are 15-5 on Friday's this season. The Suns lead the season series taking 5 of the first 6 meetings.

JACKSON GENERALS RECAP: - The Generals had the game tying run, Vinnie Catricala thrown out at the plate on a Rich Poythress double in the top of the ninth inning to finish a 7-6 loss to Jacksonville. Jackson blew a 6-0 lead Thursday afternoon at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, the largest given up in a loss this season. This was the first meeting between the two teams in Jacksonville since the Diamond Jaxx and Suns played 507 days ago on April 12, 2010. Catricala extended his hitting streak to six games as he was 2-for-2 with his 28th double, two RBI and two runs scored. Jesus Sucre led the Generals with a 3-for-4 game and two RBI. Jake Shaffer and Rich Poythress pitched in two hits in the losing effort. Jackson starter Andrew Carraway took a no decision and reliever Bobby LaFromboise (3-4) took the loss, giving up a run on three hits in two innings of work. Kyle Kaminska (2-1) earned the win for Jacksonville and Jhan Marinez picked up his second save.

TODAY'S STARTER: RHP Kenn Kasparek will make his 12th start of the season tonight and first against the Suns. The 25-year-old out of the University of Texas is 1-0, with a 3.27 ERA in his last 2 starts (4ER/11IP) with 7 strikeouts. Kasparek was the Mariners 12th round pick in 2008.

FOUR GENERALS HEADING TO THE AFL: Four current Jackson Generals will be heading to the heralded Arizona Fall League this October. RHP Steven Hensley, LHP Brian Moran, INF Nick Franklin and OF Chih-Hsien Chiang join former Generals catcher Adam Moore along with Mariners 2011 1st Round pick (#3 overall) LHP Danny Hultzen and RHP Forrest Snow. The Peoria Javelinas are made of minor league players from the Brewers, Cardinals, Mets, Mariners and Padres organizations. The Arizona Fall League begins its 20th season on Tuesday, October 4th.

CATRICALA HAVING MONSTER SEASON: Vinnie Catricala has hit safely in his last 6 games, batting .400 (8x20) with 8 runs scored, 3 doubles, 4 home runs and 7 RBI. Catricala has combined to bat .350 (177x506) with 94 runs scored, 74 XBH (2B -47, 3B - 4, HR - 23) and 102 RBI in 129 games split between A High Desert and AA Jackson. Among full-season minor leaguers he ranks 3rd in hits and doubles, 4th in XBH, 5th in batting average, 10th in RBI.

BASEBALL GROUNDS, IT'S BEEN A WHILE: It has been 507 days since the Jackson franchise last played a series at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. On April 12th, 2010, the Diamond Jaxx fell to the Suns, 2-1. The lineup was: 2B Dustin Ackley, SS Carlos Triunfel, RF Carlos Peguero, DH Mike Wilson, C Guillermo Quiroz, 3B Alex Liddi, LF Joe Dunigan, 1B Leury Bonilla, CF Kuo Hui Lo and starting pitcher RHP Michael Pineda. None of which are on the current 24-man active roster. Pineda and Ackley are key parts of the Seattle Mariners 2011 team.

MORAN EXTENDS SCORELESS STREAK: Brian Moran extended his scoreless inning streak to 16.2 innings in last 11 relief appearances. During this stretch he limited opponents to a .190 average (11x58), while walking 5 and striking out 20. Brian is 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA in 24 appearances in the 2nd half as opposed to a 2-2 mark, with a 8.51 ERA in 19 appearances.

MAN THESE GUYS ARE YOUNG: Generals' infielders Gabriel Noriega, Nick Franklin and Francisco Martinez are each just 20 years old...Martinez and Noriega will turn 21 in September while Franklin, the youngest on the roster will not turn 21 until February of 2012.

TODAY IN BASEBALL HISTORY: 1993 - The expansion Colorado Rockies drew 47,699 fans for their 6-1 loss to Montreal to set a single-season National League attendance record with a 62-game total of 3,617,863. Los Angeles set the previous record of 3,608,881 in 1982. Toronto set the Major League record of 4,028,318 in 1992
