Hand Recalled to the Major Leagues

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Marlins have made a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Jackson Generals at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Left-handed starting pitcher Brad Hand has been recalled from the Suns to the major league Marlins. Hand with the Suns this season made 18 starts where he went 11-4 with a 3.40 ERA, and he was an honorable mention Southern League Midseason All-Star. This will be Hand's fourth stint with the Marlins this season, and with Florida he is 1-4 with a 4.08 ERA in eight starts.

Hand will start tonight for the Marlins against the Philadelphia Phillies, with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Fla.

The Suns roster now stands at 23, and a revised roster is attached.

The Suns and Generals will play the second game of the five-game series on Friday night at the Baseball Grounds. Right-handed pitcher Bryan Evans (2-1, 3.45 ERA) will pitch for Jacksonville while right-hander Kenn Kasparek (5-4, 4.40 ERA) will pitch for Jackson.

Friday's game will be "Family Faith Night and Friday Family Fireworks," at the Baseball Grounds. Fans can enjoy a postgame concert featuring award-winning Christian group Big Daddy Weave, and after the game and before the concert, fans can also enjoy a fireworks show sponsored by NAPA AutoParts and your local NAPA Autocare Center Dealers.

Friday's game will start at 7:05 p.m. ET, and fans can listen to the contest beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the U.F. & Shands Pregame Show on Jacksonville's WFXJ 930 the Fox and www.jaxsuns.com.
