Norfolk Admirals News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Rod Pelley netted his first goal of the season, but the Norfolk Admirals (15-21-2-1) were upended by the Charlotte Checkers (25-12-2-3), 6-1, on Sunday evening at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
The Admirals out-shot the Checkers, 32-31, in the contest. However, Pelley's marker at 16:31 of the second period was the only blemish of the evening for Charlotte goaltender Justin Peters (16-7-1), who turned aside 31 shots. Netminder Jeff Deslauriers (0-1-0) made his Norfolk debut and stopped 25 shots.
Luke Pither netted two goals and an assist for Charlotte while Riley Nash, Tim Wallace and Chris Terry each recorded a goal and an assist. Michal Jordan also scored for the Checkers.
Norfolk was 0-for-3 on the power play. Charlotte was 3-for-5.
