CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they have recalled goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic from the ECHL's Florida Everblades. In a corresponding move, the team also released goaltender C.J. Motte from his professional tryout contract.

Nedeljkovic, a 20-year-old rookie, made three appearances during his two-week stint with the Everblades, winning both of his starts to go 2-0-0 with a 2.83 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. The Carolina Hurricanes' second-round pick (37th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft also became the 12th goaltender in ECHL history to score a goal when he picked up an empty-net tally against the Orlando Solar Bears on Dec. 30. The native of Parma, OH, began the season with the Checkers, going 3-12-0 with a 3.44 goals-against average and .876 save percentage.

Motte, an ECHL All-Star this season with the Quad City Mallards, won his lone start for the Checkers - a 5-1 victory over Milwaukee in the team's most recent game on Jan. 10. The 25-year-old native of St. Clair, MI, also played one period in relief and stopped 41 of 42 total shots during his stint with Charlotte.

The Checkers begin a season-long, eight-game home stand at Bojangles' Coliseum with a game against the Cleveland Monsters on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7:15 p.m.
