Checkers Hockey Returns, Camp Opens In Just One Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers will officially open training camp for the 2008-09 season on Monday Oct. 6th at the Extreme Ice Center located at 4705 Indian Trail-Fairview Road Indian Trail, N.C. 28079.

The Checkers training camp schedule is as follows:

Monday, Oct. 6th: 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.-optional skate

Tuesday, Oct. 7th: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.-on ice practice

Wednesday, Oct. 8th: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.-on ice practice

Thursday, Oct. 9th: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.-on ice practice **Media Day**

Friday, Oct. 10th: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.-on ice practice followed by exhibition game against the Mississippi Sea Wolves at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 11th 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m.-Intra-squad Blue vs. White game

Sunday, Oct. 12th- Off Day

Monday, Oct. 13th 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.-on ice practice

The Checkers are getting ready for their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Opening night will take place on Halloween against the Augusta Lynx at a special 8 p.m. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers are entering their fourth season of play at Time Warner Cable Arena. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $396.
