Cyclones Sign Forward Kyle Rank

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones, announced today that they have signed second-year center Kyle Rank. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

Rank, 25, played in 34 games for Wheeling last season netting ten goals and 13 assists for 23 points. He was the fifth-leading goal scorer for the Nailers while playing in less than 40 percent of their games. Kyle also played 25 games throughout the season with Wilkes Barre-Scranton (AHL) and had an assist there. He registered five multiple point games against ECHL competition and collected eight points (2-6-8) versus Reading and seven points (3-4-7) versus Dayton.

The six-foot-one, 185 pound native of Elmira, ONT, played collegiately at St. Lawrence University. During that time (2003-04 through 2006-07), he appeared in 151 games and tallied 39 goals and 60 assists for 99 points. Rank spent his first two seasons at St. Lawrence as a teammate to current Cyclones defenseman Matt Macdonald.

"Kyle Rank is a very talented offensive player," Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "He has made the transition from college to the pros and is working hard on taking his game to the next level."

Tickets for the 2008-09 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 144. The Cyclones open the season at Wheeling on Friday, October 17 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Dayton on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30pm. There will be a special Kelly Cup championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.
