
Bonar, Walker Agree To Terms With RoadRunners

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, announced today that forwards Josh Bonar and Geoff Walker have each agreed to terms on a contract for the upcoming 2008-09 season.
Bonar, 24, finished eighth among Central Hockey League rookies with 21 goals and totaled 38 points and 74 penalty minutes in 63 games last season with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The Port Alberni, British Columbia native and second-year professional spent two seasons at Brock University prior to signing with Rio Grande Valley and recorded 21 goals and 46 points in 51 games. Bonar enjoyed a four-year junior career that included a stint with his hometown Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the British Columbia Hockey League where he notched 57 goals and 119 points in 98 games over two seasons.
Walker, 20, led the Prince Edward Island Rocket and finished 10th in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League scoring race in 2007-08 with a personal-best 38 goals, 52 assists, and 90 points in 69 games. The rookie from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island joined the Texas Brahmas of the CHL for their 2008 playoff run and accumulated nine penalty minutes in five games. Walker registered 94 goals, 121 assists, and 215 points in 228 games during a four-year major junior career in the QMJHL. He attended training camp in 2007 with the Toronto Maple Leafs and is currently at training camp the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.
Bonar and Walker join a RoadRunners' roster that already includes forwards Mitch Carefoot, Wes Clark, Kimbi Daniels, Dan DaSilva, Andrew Desjardins, Bryan Esner, Gino Guyer, James McEwan, Daniel Sisca, Peder Skinner and Chris Stevens; defenseman Andrew Andricopoulos, Matt Burke, T.J. Campbell, Rob Dmytruk, Bryan Nathe, Tom Sawatske, and Brett Thurston; and goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo.
Phoenix will play a two-game pre-season series against the Florida Everblades Oct. 10-11 at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla.
The RoadRunners open their fourth ECHL season Oct. 17 when they welcome the Victoria Salmon Kings to US Airways Center for a three-game Opening Weekend series.
