Team will donate stuffed animals thrown by fans to local charities

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers' annual Teddy Bear Toss, presented by Novant Health, will take place on Sunday, Nov. 26, during the team's 1 p.m. game against the Providence Bruins.

Fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals wrapped in plastic and without breakable battery compartments to throw on the ice after the Checkers score their first goal. Checkers players, staff, the CheckMates dance team and the team's mascot, Chubby, will then personally deliver the collected animals to various organizations in our community including The Sandbox, Baby Bundles, Berryhill School, Sedgefield Elementary, Alexander Youth Network, Toys for Tots and Toys for Our Troops throughout the holiday season.

Media information on times and locations for these deliveries will be announced at a later date.

In the past seven seasons, the Checkers have collected and donated more than 12,500 stuffed animals.
