
Checkers Announce Pre-Season Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Checkers general manager and head coach, Derek Wilkinson, announced today that the team will battle divisional opponents, the South Carolina Stingrays and Columbia Inferno during two exhibition games.
The first game against the Stingrays is on Friday, October 12th at the North Charleston Coliseum at 7 p.m. The following afternoon at 1:30 p.m., the Checkers are home against the Inferno. The Checkers will host the Inferno at the Extreme Ice Center, the official practice facility of the Checkers located in Indian Trail, North Carolina. A limited number of tickets are available to this event and they can be purchased through the Extreme Ice Center or the Charlotte Checkers.
Team president, Jeff Longo, says this is all building towards a great home opener on October 19th, "The pre-season gives fans a glimpse into what the Checkers will look like at the start of our 15th Anniversary season. It is an important year for the team and we look forward to the start of a terrific season."
The Checkers enter their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL in October 2007. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
