
Checkers Announce Inaugural Street Fest

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Team president Jeff Longo announced today that the Checkers will hold their first ever Charlotte Checkers Street Fest. The event will take place on August 18th at the season ticket holder parking lot at 6th and Brevard in uptown Charlotte.
The tournament will include four divisions: mite, squirt, pee wee and bantam with a minimum of three players plus a goalie (maximum five players per team). The round robin tournament will consist of two 10-minute running-clock periods with at least three games per team leading into a single elimination playoff. A trophy presentation to the winners of each division will take place at the Charlotte Checkers home opener.
Special guest appearances will be made by Checkers coaches and players. Also on-hand will be the CheckMates and Chubby. Food will be provided by Beef 'O' Brady's. The Checkers enter their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL in October 2007. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
