Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club today announced that forward Chaz Lucius underwent shoulder surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season. Lucius' surgery was successful and he is expected to make a full recovery.
Lucius, 19, was assigned to Portland by the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 9 and made an immediate impact. The former first-round NHL Draft pick scored 15 points in six games prior to his injury and was named the WHL Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 23-29, 2023. The Hawks originally drafted Lucius in the fourth round of the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft and have maintained his playing rights since.
The Winterhawks would like to wish Chaz a speedy recovery as he works toward preparing for the 2023-24 season.
