Miami FC News Release

MIAMI, Fla.- Jaime Chavez was stellar against the Tampa Bay Rowdies last week, earning himself a spot on the NASL Fall Week 16 Team of the week.

Chavez was directly responsible for both of the Miami FC's goals, as the match finished in a 2-2 draw.

The Orange and Blue struck first in the match, thanks to a wonder goal from Chavez. Midfielder Blake Smith sent in a 50-yard cross-pitch pass to a streaking Chavez. Chavez timed his run perfectly and one-timed the pass, blasting the ball far post and into the back of the net. The strike was so spectacular, that it landed as the No. 1 play on SportsCenter's Top 10.

Chavez would become the assist man a few minutes later, threading a through ball in between two Tampa defenders and on to the foot of an open Poku. Poku collected the pass and finished the chance to but the Club up 2-0.

Chavez would continue to have a strong match, finishing the night with five shots, 15 completed passes and two scoring chances created. With the score locked at 2-2, Chavez nearly scored a game-winner with another great volley.

The Miami FC walked away with a point and its playoff hopes intact thanks to the great performance put in by Chavez.

The Miami FC closes out their inaugural year on October 28th against FC Edmonton for their last match of the regular season. Plus, it's Fan Appreciation Night! Click here for more info and tickets.
