Chattanooga Fends Off Diamond Jaxx

(Jackson, TN) August 31st- Chattanooga scored four runs in the thirteenth inning and held on to beat the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 6-4 in game two of the five game series. The win leaves the Lookouts 1.5 games behind Huntsville in the Northern Division with three games left to be played. The Diamond Jaxx lost despite tying a Southern League record for most strikeouts in a game by the Jaxx pitching staff. Diamond Jaxx pitchers struckout twenty two Chattanooga hitters, tying a record that was last achieved by Knoxville and Birmingham on April 16, 1992.

Dushan Ruzic (1-2) pitched three innings in relief to pick up the win for Chattanooga. Ruzic allowed two runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Caonabo Cosme had two hits and three RBI's, while Jose Castro, Danny Dorn and Mike Griffin had two hits each to help pace the Lookouts thirteen hit attack.

Chris Jakubauskas suffered the loss, dropping his record to 0-4 on the season. Jakubauskas allowed four runs on six hits with a walk and eight strikeouts in four innings of work. Luis Valbuena, Mike Wilson, Marshall Hubbard and Luis Oliveros had two hits each to pace the Diamond Jaxx ten hit attack.
