Charlotte FC News Release
It's that time of the year again when Charlotte FC's Under-17 and Under-15 Academy teams participate in the elite youth tournament, Generation adidas Cup. Historically held in Frisco, Texas, this year it was moved to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida from April 1-9.
"The GA Cup is always one of our most valuable events of the year. It's a great opportunity to challenge ourselves against our MLS and International peers. The staff and players are really looking forward to the week," said CLTFC Executive Director of Academy Bryan Scales.
The 2023 edition of the tournament will host a record 49 clubs from 12 countries including world renown ones like Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Arsenal. MLS sides play in the GA Cup Qualifiers to determine seeding for the tournament, which saw the CLTFC's U-17s win their group and are considered a top eight seed. Teams are then divided into for group stage matches followed by a bracket-style elimination format for the 16 teams who qualify for the winner's side of the draw.
The competition is an opportunity for coaches, scouts, and fans to witness some of the most exciting up-and-coming talent in the world. Charlotte FC's very own, Nimfasha Berchimas, was featured as a player to watch in MLS Soccer's 2023 Generation adidas Cup Rising XI.
