Charleston Battery to Host F&B Night

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery is hosting an F&B appreciation night on Wednesday, May 28 for its U.S. Open Cup third round match versus Orlando City U23's. Charleston F&B employees can purchase tickets in advance for just $5 for this special game and there will be no charge for parking.

The Battery will also offer $1 beers throughout the evening at the Charleston Battery Beer Garden. Gates open at 6:00 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island. The Charleston Battery qualified for the third round match versus Orlando City U23's with a 4-0 win over the Panama City Beach Pirates in the second round. The winner of the third round game will advance to face a side (TBD) from Major League Soccer in the fourth round.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, recognized as U.S. Soccer's National Club Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. The tournament has crowned a champion for 100 consecutive years dating back to 1914.

D.C. United is the defending U.S. Open Cup champion, having won its third tournament title (following triumphs in 1996 and 2008) after a tense 1-0 road victory over Real Salt Lake on Oct. 1, 2013. In 1999, the competition was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.
