Charlotte Eagles News Release
The game started off slow with a lot of back and forth but Zak Boggs got a good opportunity in the 4th minute but it went just wide of the post. It looked like the Eagles got ahead in the 22nd minute but the goal by Drew Yates was disallowed after a foul was called. Another opportunity came when the Eagles got a free kick in the 31st minute from a tripping call but Jorge Herrera's kick soared over the crossbar.
Boggs had another good opportunity in the 41st minute but was denied by Dynamo goalkeeper Alex McCauley. Two minutes after Boggs opportunity Juan Guzman opened up the scoring off a cross from Herrera and put it past McCauley.
Eagles goalkeeper Brock Duckworth continued to stand tall in the second half and made a huge save on Mamadee Nyepon to keep the Eagles ahead by one. Herrera struck again bulleting one past McCauley (and through the netting) in the 55th minute to widen the Eagles lead to two goals, Herrera's goal was unassisted.
In the 60th minute Mamadee Nyepon tallied the first goal for the Dynamo with the assist on his goal going to Marco Sunol. The Eagles continued to have a number of good opportunities (a number of them coming from Boggs) but unfortunately could not capitalize on them until the 87th minute when Jorge Herrera got a takeaway from Dynamo defender Biko Brennan and fired a left footed shot past McCauley putting the Eagles up 3-1. Duckworth continued to stand tall and make big saves to keep the Eagles ahead and aid the Eagles in their 3-1 victory.
