Charlotte Eagles News Release
Charlotte, NC -- The Charlotte Eagles will travel to Montreal to take on the Montreal Impact Reserves for a Monday, September 1st afternoon matchup. The Eagles will look to rebound after a tough 1-0 loss against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Friday, August 29th.
Charlotte will look to regain their form when they visit Saputo Stadium in Montreal where the visitors will need all three points to keep their 2014 USL PRO playoff hopes alive.
A Miroslav Cabrilo header in the 76th minute and tough defense were enough for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to escape Queens Sports Complex with a valuable three points on Friday, August 29th. Charlotte had an early chance as a Zak Boggs cross in the 6th minute was deflected out of the path of Fred Sekyere by Pittsburgh goalkeeper Michael Lisch.
Charlotte tested Lisch throughout the evening forcing the keeper to make four saves on nine shots but couldn't get anything past the Houston Dynamo player.
The Eagles will be without one of their defensive starters as Jonathan Leathers left Friday's contest early with a hamstring issue.
Montreal currently sits in 10th place in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference. The first team has a game scheduled for today against the Columbus Crew. While the first team is led by big name players Marco Di Vaio, Justin Mapp and Jack McInerney, it will be interesting to see the lineup put out on Monday afternoon by Impact head coach Frank Klopas.
Klopas was in charge of the Chicago Fire last season when they played the Eagles three times. Twice in the MLS-USL PRO reserve matchups and once in the Open Cup. Charlotte emerged with two victories in the reserve matchups while the Fire advanced with a 2-0 win in the Open Cup.
The match on Monday will be streamed, keep up to speed with all of the game details by visiting www.CharlotteEagles.com.
