The Canton Charge (2-6), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, were defeated by the Iowa Energy (6-2), 106-101, in Des Moines on Wednesday night. The Energy move to 2-0 in the season series between the two teams and to the top of the Central Division.
Quinn Cook led Canton with 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting with five rebounds, five assists, and a steal in 40 minutes of play. Joe Harris had a strong effort on assignment from the Cavaliers with 23 points, four assists and a block in 37 minutes. Canton shot just 11 free-throws, hitting 10, to Iowa's 30-for-39 night from the charity stripe.
Joel Wright paced Iowa with a game-high 36 points on 11-of-18 shooting with 13 boards in 46 minutes. Lazeric Jones added 21 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 43 minutes. Alex Stepheson posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds while swatting three blocks in 33 minutes. The Energy stayed perfect with their third win at home in as many games so far this season.
The game went back-and-forth for 16 lead changes and 12 ties throughout the night in an improved performance from Saturday's loss to the Energy. Canton shared the ball for 21 assists on 40 field goals. Michael Dunigan scored 17 points with six rebounds in 33 minutes. Nick Minnerath added 12 points and seven boards in 24 minutes.
