Cleveland Charge News Release
The Canton Charge are pleased to announce that for the second consecutive season, the team will partner with Akron-based Longbridge Wealth Advisors to benefit the Akron Children's Hospital. Longbridge will again provide a $20 charitable donation to the hospital for every assist that the Charge make in home games throughout the entire 2013-14 season.
[Description: C:UsersswyattPicturesACH Check.JPG]"We are honored to partner again with the Canton Charge and Akron Children's Hospital in raising funds for children in our community through this season's assist campaign," said Neven Zelich, co-founder and a managing partner at Longbridge Wealth Advisors. "We view this partnership as a way for our firm to give back to the community and more specifically to support the wonderful work being done for the young people of our region by Akron Children's Hospital."
Charge fans can also join in and support the cause while rooting on their home team. At CantonCharge.com or by picking up a form at any home game, Charge fans can pledge as little as $1 an assist and help make this year's campaign the most successful yet.
"Akron Children's Hospital is elated at this opportunity to team up with Longbridge Wealth Advisors, the Canton Charge, and Charge fans to help the kids and families served by the hospital in Stark County, Summit County and across the region. Each dollar raised helps to provide needed medical and support services." said Shawn Lyden, Executive Vice President of Akron Children's Hospital.
The program was a tremendous success after being initiated at the start of the 2012-13 season. The Charge dished out 216 assists during their 24 home games last year, resulting in a gift of $10,800 by Longbridge that was used by Akron Children's Hospital in order to enhance their care and facilities used by thousands of families throughout Northeast Ohio.
The assist donation program works in conjunction with the Charge's community initiatives and the NBA D-League Cares programs. Through NBA D-League Cares, the Charge work to address important social issues with a special emphasis on programs that support education, local community building and youth basketball. NBA D-League teams host a variety of outreach projects that strive to enrich the lives of people who live and work in their nearby communities. Through the NBA D-League's programs, teams also establish a close connection to their local communities by providing unparalleled time and access to the players, coaches and staff.
