San Angelo, Texas---San Angelo Colts right-hander Chandler Barnard became the fifth member of the Colts to win the weekly Rawlings North American League award. He joins Daryl Jones, Ronnie Gaines and Cory Patton, who all won the Player-of-the-Week Award, as well as joining Brian Henschel to become only the second Colts pitcher to win the Rawlings NAL Pitcher-of-the-Week Award this season.

Chandler has been one of the North American League's best pitchers in 2011, going 10-2 with a 3.16 ERA so far this season, following up a great 2010 campaign when he went 8-3 with a 2.99 ERA. This past week, Barnard made two starts going 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA, including a complete game, throwing a total of 16 innings, allowing 13 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), walked just 2 while striking out 11. The Colts Barnard has been a work horse, currently being in sole possession of innings pitched (99.2) is tied for the league lead in wins (10) and is third in both strikeouts (86) and ERA (3.16).

This is Barnard's third season with the Colts. He came into this season as the Colts All-Time ERA leader (3.17), had the fifth best ERA in a single season (2.99) last year, and is currently second on San Angelo's All-Time Win (27) and Strikeouts (227) list. The Lubbock, Texas, native pitched for Trinity (CT) College, where he won a national title in college with his team going an incredible 45-1.
