Tampa Bay Rowdies News Release
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Rowdies were one of six Eastern Conference teams to start the season with a victory this weekend, beating New York Red Bulls II 1-0 on a sunny afternoon in New Jersey.
Here's a look at how the matches we highlighted last week ended up.
Tampa Bay Rowdies - 1
New York Red Bulls II - 0
The new look Rowdies defense pitched a convincing shutout and Leo Fernandes scored an opening day goal for the second time in three season to carry Tampa Bay to its first-ever road points against the Red Bulls.
Louisville City FC - 1
North Carolina FC - 0
Louisville City's Cameron Lancaster got the reigning Eastern Conference champions off to a good start with a road win over North Carolina. North Carolina was limited to just two shots on target.
Miami FC - 1
Saint Louis FC - 4
Life in the USL Championship started poorly for Miami, with a 4-1 thumping at the hands of Saint Louis, which missed the playoffs in 2019. A Romario Williams penalty was not nearly enough for Miami to avoid a large defeat.
