Sacramento Republic FC News Release
Sacramento, Calif. - Today, two Sacramento Republic FC player will continue the club's tradition of supporting local efforts to raise funds to battle childhood cancer. Drew Skundrich and Adam Grinwis will join the party at DeVere's Irish Pub -- 1521 L Street, Sacramento, Ca, 95814 - and shave their heads.
As of 3:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon, Skundrich raised nearly $1,300 in donations, far surpassing his goal of $100.
"The people that are affected by childhood cancer, they need someone to stand by them and show them that they are not alone in the process," Republic FC midfielder Drew Skundrich said. "I think doing this shows support and shows to those impacted that everyone is here with you."
Grinwis is also grateful to be part of such an impactful event that affects him on a personal level. Of the younger goalkeepers Grinwis played with in Orlando City SC was going through chemo treatment and now is currently in remission. Grinwis and the goalkeeper are still close friends and the Republic FC goalkeeper continues to mentor the young shot-stopper.
Republic FC has supported St. Baldrick's since 2014 with players, fans and staff participating annually in the event. Last season Republic FC players Cameron Iwasa, Josh Cohen and Ray Saari braved the shave for cancer research.
