PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers have re-signed forward Josh Cousineau. Cousineau's goal with less than a tenth of a second left in the game secured the 5-4 victory in Game Three of the 2016 Southern Professional Hockey League President's Cup Final to clinch the franchise's third President's Cup championship in four years.

"Josh has quickly established himself as a champion in the SPHL. Through his two pro seasons, Cousie has already been a part of two championships with two different teams," stated Ice Flyers head coach Kevin Hasselberg. "His competitive mentality and willingness to do what is best for the team defines his character and makes him a valuable part of the team structure. I look forward to working with Josh this season and raising the bar from previous season's success." Cousineau, a native of Penetang, Ontario, joined the Ice Flyers on Jan. 5, 2016 after being acquired via trade from the Knoxville Ice Bears. He appeared in 33 games for the Ice Flyers scoring seven goals and adding seven assists, and 23 penalty minutes (PIM). He appeared in 27 games for the Ice Bears last season and scored four goals while assisting on 12 more, and amassing 26 PIM. During the Ice Flyers' march through the playoffs, Cousineau skated in all seven games and scored one goal, had four assists, and two PIM.

Cousineau remarked, "I'm really looking forward to heading back to Florida and playing in the Hangar again. The town, community, and fans are all top notch and provide a fantastic atmosphere to play in." Cousineau also spent the 2014-15 season with Knoxville. He appeared in 41 regular season games and scored nine goals, contributed 10 assists, and had 24 PIM. He appeared in 7 playoff games and scored one goal with one assist, and two PIM as the Ice Bears won the 2015 President's Cup. "Pensacola is a first class organization which is known for winning," Cousineau continued. "I am excited to get the 2016/17 season underway and keep the Cup where it belongs!"
