June 21, 2018 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Ottawa Champions News Release
OTTAWA - INF Steve Nyisztor and INF Jordan Caillouet each had two hits, and the Ottawa Champions knocked off the Hollywood Stars 7-0 in the series finale to complete the series sweep.
It was Ottawa's first series sweep of the 2018 campaign and pulls them within six games of .500 heading into the second half of their six-game homestand.
"Hopefully all this can carry over - we're hoping our guys have more confidence after this heading into the weekend," Champions manager Hal Lanier said, referencing Ottawa's coming series against the first-place Sussex County Miners.
The Champions had a gem of a performance out of starting LHP Evan Rutckyj (W, 1-2). The Canadian southpaw tossed six full innings, only allowing three hits and zero earned runs while striking out seven batters.
Ottawa goes back to work against Sussex County tomorrow night, with the first pitch of the three-game series being thrown at 7:05 p.m. It's Coors Light Night at the ballpark, with $5 draught Coors Light available in the right field fan zone. Tickets can be found at www.ottawachampions.com or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
