Champions Can't Solve Garkow, Aigles Win 5-1

Ottawa Champions News Release

OTTAWA - Trois-Rivieres Aigles RHP Tyler Garkow spun a gem Friday night in Trois-Rivieres, not allowing a hit until the fifth inning. His lights out performance was enough to propel the Aigles to a 5-1 win over the Ottawa Champions in Game 2 of the set.

Garkow kept the Champions guessing, only allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out six batters.

Offensively, Trois-Rivieres also didn't get much off Ottawa starter RHP Edilson Alvarez, but INF Taylor Brennan's four RBI were the notable thorn in the side of Ottawa, allowing Trois-Rivieres to clinch a series split.

Alvarez, a member of Aigles for four seasons, and lasted into the sixth inning in his first start against his former team. He allowed seven hits, three earned runs, and only walked one batter in an impressive outing. Despite that, he took the loss.

INF Daniel Bick and DH Sebastien Boucher, who had back-to-back doubles in the sixth to break up Garkow's no-hitter, led Ottawa offensively. Those knocks scored the Champions' only run of the contest.

The two teams will head back to the field Saturday night, with a 7:05 p.m. start at Stade Stereo+.

Tickets for every Champions home game can be purchased at ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office or by calling the Champs at 613-745-2255 (BALL).
