Ottawa Champions News Release

OTTAWA - The Trois-Rivières Aigles put up eight runs in the third inning and then went on to beat the Ottawa Champions 10-4 in Trois-Rivières on Saturday night.

LHP Evan Rutckyj got the nod for Ottawa, but gave up nine earned runs and couldn't make it out of the third.

RHP Miles Sheehan gave up only one hit through his 3.1 innings of work, while RHP Alex Vargas closed out the game for the Champions.

Ottawa had a great start to the game. CF Chase Harris, getting a rare start in the leadoff spot, hit a double and was later driven in by DH Sebastien Boucher. RF Steve Brown then took advantage of an error to score from first on a flyball to give Ottawa a 2-0 lead.

The Aigles clawed back, hitting solo home runs in the bottom of the first and second to tie the score, before blowing the game open with that big, eight-run third frame. 13 Aigles batters came to the plate in the inning.

Harris was the only Champion to record a multi-hit day, while also earning an RBI. SS Daniel Bick and Boucher also drove in runs on the night.

Ottawa will try to avoid the series sweep tomorrow, Sunday, July 15 when they face Trois-Rivièrs at 1:05 p.m. The Champions will then return to RCGT Park for a weeklong homestand that gets underway against the Quebec Capitales on Monday, July 16 at 7:05 p.m.
