Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL have announced that free agent forward Jeff Bateman has agreed to terms on a contract for the 2004-05 season. Bateman is the fourth off-season acquisition for Head Coach Matt Thomas.

Bateman, 22, comes to Atlantic City from defending ECHL Kelly Cup Champion Idaho where he enjoyed his best professional season in 2003-04, notching 7 goals and 31 points over 52 games. His 24 assists and plus-minus ratio of plus-10 both ranked 5th on the Steelheads. In 2002-03, Bateman recorded 8 goals and 16 points in 60 games with the Utah Grizzlies, Idaho's American Hockey League affiliate. For his career, the Belleville, ON native has posted 25 goals and 75 points in 182 professional games.

"I'm really excited about joining a great organization in Atlantic City and getting a fresh start," said Bateman. "One of the things that's important to me is to get back to the AHL, and the Bullies have done a teriffic job over the last couple of seasons in developing guys and moving them up the ladder."

Bateman is a former fourth round draft pick (#126 overall) of the Dallas Stars from the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

"Jeff is a player that I look forward to coaching," said Thomas. "Not only does he bring winning experience from Idaho with a Kelly Cup ring, but he's a guy that's already had a pretty good run in the AHL and will work hard to get himself back up there. That's going to pay dividends for our team immediately."

Operation: 1,700 is now underway. The Bullies have set a goal to secure 1,700 season tickets between now and Opening Night 2004, October 29 against the Trenton Titans. IT'S TIME FOR ACTION! Season tickets start as low as $324 and are on sale now by calling a Bullies Customer Service Representative at (609) 348-PUCK.
