Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA – The Hershey Bears will be coming to the Sovereign Center on Saturday, October 9 for a preseason game against the Norfolk Admirals. The game will face off at 7:05 p.m. This is the first American Hockey League game to be played in the Sovereign Center in it's four year history.

Last year, the Hershey Bears and Norfolk Admirals battled it out to the very last game of the regular season. Both teams had hoped to grab the final playoff berth in the division in which Norfolk prevailed. Norfolk swept through the Eastern Division facing the Philadelphia Phantoms in the Semifinals where their run came to an end and Philadelphia moved onto the Finals.

Royals fans should not miss the opportunity to see potential future NHL stars such as, David Masse, Dean Arsene, Mikko Viitanen, Jeff Finger, Agris Saviels, and Tomas Slovak.

Royals general manager Ray Delia quoted, "This will certainly be a treat for local hockey fans to see an AHL game featuring the Bears at the Sovereign Center. Royals fans will have the opportunity to see several former Royals suit up for the Bears when the puck drops on October 9th. This event will afford all hockey fans throughout central PA a chance to travel to Reading, see our fabulous venue, and witness the rare occasion of the Bears playing a home game outside of Hershey. This is just one great event in what is shaping up to be a great Fall season at the Sovereign Center!"

Sovereign Center GM, Robert Cavalieri, commented on the recent addition of the AHL game: "We are delighted to bring the first ever American Hockey League game to the Sovereign Center, and especially a game featuring the Hershey Bears. It will give our local hockey fans a chance to see future NHL stars and exciting, high quality hockey action in their own backyard."
