Chad Collins named SPHL Player of the Week

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - FireAntz goaltender, Chad Collins has been named the SPHL Player of the Week. The Guelph, Ontario native went 2-0 and turned aside 83 of the 84 shots he faced, defeating the Jacksonville Barracudas and Knoxville Ice Bears. For the season, Collins is 6-5-2 with a 1.93 goals against average and a .942 save percentage.

On Tuesday, March 7th the FireAntz traveled to Jacksonville to take on the Barracudas. Collins stopped all 38 shots he saw in the FireAntz 9-0 victory. It was his 2nd shutout in only 14 starts.

The FireAntz returned home from their mid-week contest to take on the 1st place Knoxville Ice Bears on Friday, March 10th. Again, Collins was stellar in net, turning aside 45 of the 46 shots he faced. The FireAntz were outshot in the game 46-26, but won 5-1.

Fans can come see Chad Collins and the rest of the FireAntz on Thursday, March 16th at 7:35 pm at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville. It is the final regular season home game of the season.
