Club de Foot Montreal News Release
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida - CF Montréal (19-9-5) will close out its MLS regular season in Florida this Sunday against Inter Miami CF (14-13-6) on Decision Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30pm at DRV PNK Stadium (TVA Sports, TSN, BPM Sports, TSN 690).
Montreal will look to close out its 2022 campaign with a franchise-high 20th win. With last Saturday's 1-0 win over D.C. United, Wilfried Nancy's team extended its unbeaten streak to five games. The Montrealers' last setback came on August 31 in a 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls.
Now totalling 10 away wins in 2022, Montreal is among the league's most successful clubs on the road. Since 2000, only the New England Revolution (2021) and Atlanta United (2018) have managed this feat. But on Sunday against Miami, Montreal will have the opportunity to set two new MLS records for most road wins in a season (11) and seven consecutive road wins.
In addition, CFM remains in the running to finish atop the Eastern Conference, which would earn the team a direct bye to the second round of the playoffs. However, to do so, the Bleu-blanc-noir will not only need a Decision Day win, but also hope that the Philadelphia Union drops points at home against Toronto. Such a combination would lift Montreal to the top of the East for the first time in its history.
The 2022 MLS Cup playoffs officially begin on October 15, which means CF Montréal will host its first game either October 15, 16 or 17 if the team finishes second. If the club were to finish first and receive a bye to the Conference semifinals, its first match would take place between October 20-23.
Tickets to CF Montréal's first playoff match will go on sale starting Monday, October 10, at noon.
