MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced Wednesday the signings of Quebec midfielders Alessandro Biello and Matteo Schiavoni to their first professional contracts.
The 17-year-old Biello agreed to a two-season Homegrown Player deal for the 2024 and 2025 seasons with three option years in 2026, 2027 and 2028.
Schiavoni was acquired via permanent transfer from Bologna FC, agreeing to a one-season deal in 2024, with three option years in 2025, 2026 and 2027. The 18-year-old midfielder will be loaned to Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League for the 2024 season.
Biello began his amateur career with the Club de Soccer de St-Léonard before joining the CF Montréal Pre-Academy in 2014 with the U8s, working his way up to CF Montréal Academy in 2019 with the U15 squad. He then moved up to the U17 team in 2021, leading the group as team captain. Finally, he was promoted to the Club's reserve team in July 2023. Playing mainly as a defensive midfielder, Biello played nine games in Ligue1 Québec during the 2023 season, including eight as a starter.
He made his national team debut with Canada's U17 team at the Concacaf U17 Championship in February 2023. He also took part in the U17 FIFA World Cup in December 2023. More recently, he was called up by Canada for the 2024 Concacaf U20 Championship qualifying tournament.
Schiavoni took part in the first-team training camp in Tucson, Arizona, in January 2024. The CF Montréal Academy alumnus played for the Club's U15, U17 and U23 teams from 2019 to 2022. He then moved to Italy where he joined the Bologna FC Academy in July 2022, playing with the U19 team in the Primavera 1 league.
Internationally, he holds dual Canadian-Italian citizenship. He has two caps for the Canadian U20 national team.
